Complete Guide

Powers & Factions

Everything you need to know โ€” 16 draft powers, 18 season tokens, factions, and the Hero vs. Villain meta.

Why UFF exists: Standard fantasy football has always rewarded the same thing โ€” who you drafted. We wanted to reward decisions. Every round of the draft, every week of the season, there's an edge you can press or a mistake you can avoid. Draft powers shake up the draft board. Season tokens flip the outcome of close games. Factions turn your individual record into something bigger. UFF is still fantasy football โ€” it's just never a foregone conclusion.

The meta-game

Factions: Hero vs. Villain

๐Ÿ›ก Heroes

The Hero Faction

Heroes earn roster bonuses from NFL teams designated as Hero-aligned. For every player on your active roster from a Hero NFL team, you earn +0.5 pts/week. Hero's Shield draft power protects against Draft Heist attacks. Stand for order.

โšก Villains

The Villain Faction

Villains earn roster bonuses from NFL teams designated as Villain-aligned. Same +0.5 pts per aligned roster player per week. Villains tend to get the aggressive draft powers: Vampire Bite, Draft Heist. Play dirty. Win anyway.

Assignment

The commissioner assigns factions before the draft โ€” manually or via random assignment tool. Balance is encouraged.

Roster Bonus

+0.5 pts per active roster player whose NFL team aligns with your faction. Calculated automatically each week. Faction Surge token doubles it to 1.0 pts.

Faction War

Every week, Hero wins and Villain wins are tallied in aggregate. The Standings page shows the Faction War record โ€” bragging rights at the macro level.

Draft day โ€” 16 powers

Draft Powers

Every manager is dealt a draft power for each round โ€” assigned randomly before the draft starts. Powers fall into four categories: Draft Mechanics that change the board, Tied-to-Pick bonuses locked to the player you draft, Self-Cost powers that carry a penalty, and a Season Effect that pays out every week.

โณ

The Pre-Round Buffer

At the start of every round, a 30-second pre-round buffer fires before any picks can be made. This window exists specifically for round-start powers:

  • Draft Heist โ€” your swap modal pops immediately at buffer start. You have 30 seconds to pick a target (or skip). Heist is resolved before pick 1 of the round.
  • Telepathy โ€” the first picker's power is auto-revealed inline the moment the buffer starts. No button needed โ€” just read the reveal and plan.

โš ๏ธ Be on the draft page when a round starts. The buffer is client-side โ€” if you reload mid-buffer, you miss it. Heist not used during the buffer is forfeited for that round.

โš™๏ธ Draft Mechanics

๐Ÿช™

Foresight Coin

Draft Mechanic

Instead of your round's dealt power, look ahead at your own next two rounds' powers and pick one to receive now. The power left behind shifts later in your order.

๐Ÿ’ก Great for grabbing a Vampire Bite early when the draft board is richest.

๐Ÿฅท

Draft Heist

Draft Mechanic

At the start of the round (during the 30s pre-round buffer), swap pick slots with any manager who hasn't picked yet. They go where you were; you go where they were. Must be used during the buffer โ€” skipping forfeits it for that round.

๐Ÿ’ก Jump in front of a manager about to grab your target, or strand a rival who's about to go #1 overall in a deep round.

๐Ÿฆธ

Hero's Shield

Draft Mechanic

Paired with Draft Heist: when any manager is dealt Heist, a random Hero manager also receives Shield for that round. If that Hero is the Heist target, the steal is auto-blocked.

๐Ÿ’ก Hold it quietly โ€” it only activates if you're the target, but that block can swing a whole round.

๐Ÿง

Telepathy

Draft Mechanic

At the start of the round (during the 30s pre-round buffer), the first manager to pick that round has their power automatically revealed to you โ€” no button needed. Know what's coming before pick 1 drops.

๐Ÿ’ก Most powerful when you pick early and want to know if a Heist or Bite is targeting the same round. If your target has Shadow Guard, the reveal shows 'Shadow Guard active.'

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ

Shadow Guard

Pick Power ยท Any Position

Your pick this round is permanently shielded from Vampire Bite โ€” season-long. If anyone tries to bite your player, the bite fizzles and their use is wasted. Also blocks Telepathy from revealing your power this round.

๐Ÿ’ก Best used on elite skill players you expect to be Bite targets โ€” a protected stud RB or WR negates a rival's best long-term weapon.

๐Ÿฆ‡ Season Effect

๐Ÿฆ‡

Vampire Bite

Season Effect

Pick any already-drafted player (from any team, not yet bitten). Each week for the rest of the season, 10% of that player's fantasy score is added to yours. Each player can only be bitten once.

๐Ÿ’ก Bite an elite WR or RB early โ€” 10% of a 40-pt week adds up to 4 bonus points, every week.

๐Ÿ”— Tied-to-Pick Powers

These powers activate only if your pick in that round matches the required position. Draft the wrong position and the power fizzles โ€” no effect.

๐ŸŽฏ

Gunslinger

Tied to Pick โ€” QB

If your pick is a QB, that QB gets +1 pt per passing TD on top of league scoring, season-long. Fizzles if not a QB.

๐Ÿ’ก Worth targeting a QB earlier than usual in a round you hold this.

๐Ÿ”ฅ

Berserker Rage

Tied to Pick โ€” RB

If your pick is an RB, that RB gets +0.1 pt per rushing yard on top of league scoring, season-long. Fizzles if not an RB.

๐Ÿ’ก On a workhorse 250-carry back, that's 25 extra pts over the season.

๐Ÿ”จ

Goal Line Hammer

Tied to Pick โ€” RB

If your pick is an RB, that RB gets +1 pt per rushing TD on top of league scoring, season-long. Fizzles if not an RB.

๐Ÿ’ก Stack with a goal-line vulture RB โ€” they may score fewer yards but plenty of TDs.

๐Ÿ™Œ

Reception Specialist

Tied to Pick โ€” WR/RB/TE

If your pick is a WR, RB, or TE, that player gets +0.5 PPR on top of league scoring, season-long. Fizzles if QB, K, or D/ST.

๐Ÿ’ก One of the most flexible tied powers โ€” works on any skill position.

๐Ÿšจ

Red Zone Menace

Tied to Pick โ€” WR

If your pick is a WR, that WR gets +1 pt per receiving TD on top of league scoring, season-long. Fizzles if not a WR.

๐Ÿ’ก Targets a WR who sees heavy red-zone usage โ€” touchdowns multiply fast.

โšก

Seam Buster

Tied to Pick โ€” TE

If your pick is a TE, that TE gets +1 pt per receiving TD on top of league scoring, season-long. Fizzles if not a TE.

๐Ÿ’ก A top TE who scores 8โ€“10 TDs adds 8โ€“10 free points on top of normal scoring.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ

Iron Defense

Tied to Pick โ€” D/ST

If your pick is a D/ST, that D/ST's scoring is doubled, season-long. Fizzles if not a D/ST.

๐Ÿ’ก An elite defense with this power is worth a starting roster spot every single week.

๐Ÿ”ญ

Sniper

Tied to Pick โ€” K

If your pick is a K, that K's field goals of 50+ yards are worth double points, season-long. Fizzles if not a K.

๐Ÿ’ก Pair with a deep-ball kicker on a dome team. Long FGs add up.

โณ

Time Stone

Tied to Pick โ€” Any

Tied to your pick (any position โ€” no fizzle). If that player gets injured and you keep them in your starting lineup, they continue scoring their last healthy game's total every week until they return. Benching them while injured permanently breaks the freeze.

๐Ÿ’ก The only no-fizzle tied power. On your best player, it's insurance against season-ending injury.

โš ๏ธ Self-Cost Powers

โŒ

Power Negation

Self-Cost

The player you draft this round has their fantasy scoring halved, season-long โ€” until you or a teammate restores them with a Power Restore Chip. This is a cost power, not a benefit.

โš ๏ธ If you pull this, draft a throwaway pick for this round โ€” don't waste a top target.

Every week โ€” 18 tokens

Season Tokens

Each week, every manager receives one of 18 possible season tokens. Tokens lock in before games start, reveal after the lock window, and can only be used once (except Second Wind). The right token at the right moment can turn a 4-point deficit into a win.

1

Power Surge

+2.0 flat points added to your total score this week. Simple, reliable, and most valuable in tight matchups.

2

Triple Threat

Your kicker's actual points are tripled this week. In a big kicker week (field goals galore), this can be +8 to +12 pts.

3

Bench Vault

Your highest-scoring bench player's points are added on top of your starter total โ€” a free extra contributor, no swap needed.

4

Mulligan

After all games finish, your worst-performing starter is retroactively swapped with the highest-scoring eligible bench player who outscored them. A safety net for a bust start.

5

Mirror Match

Your score gains a bonus equal to the total extra points your opponent's active draft powers generated for them this week. If they benefited, you match it.

6

Faction Surge

Doubles your weekly faction roster bonus โ€” from +0.5 pts/aligned player to +1.0. In a full roster of aligned players, that's a 15โ€“20 pt swing.

7

Position Power

Choose a position (QB, RB, WR, TE, K, DEF). Your top-scoring starter at that position gets 1.5x their points this week.

8

Fortress

Your D/ST score is doubled this week. A shutout or pick-six game becomes a point explosion. High variance, high ceiling.

9

Recon

Reveals your opponent's weekly token selection before the normal lock-and-reveal window. Know what you're up against and adjust your lineup accordingly.

10

Air Raid

+1.0 extra point per passing touchdown for your QB(s) this week. Stack with a high-volume passer in a shootout game for maximum return.

11

Insurance

If you lose this week, the loss doesn't count toward your record โ€” logged as a no-contest. Your record stays clean. Your opponent's win still counts for them.

12

Last Stand

If you trail by 20+ points after all players are locked, all of your bench players' points are retroactively added to your score. A big-deficit comeback mechanism.

13

Quick Feet

Grants one late injury swap after games have started for the week. Move a locked injured player off your lineup without losing the game-time lock window on your replacement.

14

Momentum

If you're currently on a 2+ game win streak, +1.5 pts are added to your score this week. Rewards running hot.

15

Underdog

If you lose this week, +3 pts are added to your final score as a consolation bonus. It doesn't flip the result โ€” but it helps in tiebreaker scenarios.

16

Iron Will

Your starter with the lowest pre-game projected score this week gets 2x their actual points. High-risk, high-reward on a sleeper or a desperate plug-in.

17

Clutch Gene

If your matchup is decided by 5 points or fewer, your score is rounded up by 1 full point. A quiet weapon โ€” you won't always need it, but when you do, it wins games.

18

Second Wind

Reuse any one weekly token you've already used earlier this season. The only token that can be used twice. Save it for the playoffs.

Bonus

Power Restore Chips

The manager with the highest score in the league each week earns a Power Restore Chip. Chips restore a player whose scoring was halved by a Power Negation draft power, returning them to full scoring. Chips can be held and traded strategically. High scorers earn them; smart managers spend them wisely.
